I agree! For me Cali is just a necesary evil, the drive east, and back west makes it worthwhile.

When you come out to Cali, you are being tested as how good you are as a professional driver. If you survive your trip with no incident's, then you have pass. I don't know why everyone seems to make an issue out of it. Do your pre plan trip just like you would do any other state. Find out what the peak hours of traffic are and which interstate and junctions to avoid at peak if you must drive them. I personally am use to the peak hour traffic, I enjoy the view that some of the four wheeler's display ;):p, and I ain't talking about any "buffalo". The only main issue we have out here is being CARB compliant, and other states will follow eventually soon. Other than that, enjoy the view while visiting the Golden State.

Southbound Cajon is 45, and they mean 45. The fun part is trying to stop at the bottom when the scales are open.

I ain't been out to Cali since oh, around 1993 IIRC. I don't seem to miss it. But the times I was there, seemed like I found all my stops with no problems, must have dealt with traffic, but I cannot remember how bad, and I always got a parking spot at the truck stop. I do believe it was the 76 (long now a T/A) at Ontario.

I was making more money from New England to maybe as far west as Texas, and New England to Florida, and New England to Ohio, to ever really miss Cali.

Cali in my earlier years was a good learning experience.
