Do any of us truly know the exact rate freight pays????
You might get your money from the shipper but do you truly know if that's what the shipper is charging the receiver????
Landstar consistently blows up my phone..... For a couple reasons... I dont need any type of advance-Nor do I need any sort of Savings Plus..... Paying someone to send me the money they owe me is more crazy talk....
Anyway enough of the pissing match.... Good Luck in all you do
Why do you lease to a carrier?

EVERY O/O didnt start out with a $30,000 truck $15,000 trailer and $50,000 in cash on hand o yeah and with his or her own contacts and customers allready in place, for that type of operation some people buy a company thats allready turn key and take over. SOME OF US OPS DID IT THE OLD FASHION WAY, WE TOOK ALOT OF B.S. OFF COMPANYS, WE WORKED AND SAVED AND GOT DA F×÷! OUT OF DODGE WHEN THAT TIME CAME..so u can call it CRAZY ALL U want ..it is what it is..WHAT WORKS FOR U ,, MITE NOT WORK FOR ME that doesnt mean we are CRAZY OR STUPID ..some people eat CHICKEN,,, SOME PEOPLE eat STEAKS.POINT IS WE ARE ALL EATING!FLATBED, exhausted379 and rebeloutlaw66 Thank this. -

wonderdog, your arguing a dead horse in the mouth.
when you say 100 percent. EVERYONE else thinks the shipper. cuz that's all their mind is stuck on. they just don't get it. that we all know no one is ever going to get 100% from shipper. unless they are a direct customer. we have no idea what the shipper is paying.
100 percent from broker. 75% from carrier. that means BROKER folks, NOT CARRIER.
but i'll let you in on a little secret. for all of you that can't figure it out.
the carrier i once worked for. and the loads that i was offered. either came from brokers or the load board.
that means, not many loads i hauled were direct customers of the carrier.
and if you still can't figure it out.
SHIPPER-BROKER-CARRIER-TRUCK.
save yourself the 25 % your paying the carrier. and make 100% from the broker. not the shipper.
95% of the loads i was offered by my carrier. came off the load board. the other 5'%. came off the carriers own board. only 1% of those actually paid good. the other 4%. probably came from broker buddies. trying to ship their cheap crap on anyone.
100% from the broker. or have the carrier collect 100% for the same brokered load. and give you 75%.
you all talk about NOT doing business with factors. but yet, your only paying 5% to a factor company for immediate cash flow.
your paying 25% to your carrier for immediate cash flow. plus all other paperwork goodies.
100% from the broker. not once, in all the discussions, have i seen anything mentioned about 100% from the shipper.
the argument isn't about the shipper. it's about the broker rate, and not going through a carrier. -

Snowy, you seem to forget one really big thing, insurance, that $10,000+ policy gets to come right off the top of that 100%.
But I understand what you are saying, neither one is the right one for 100% of everyone. I've ran my own authority, think about reinstating a lot, but I just don't want the extra hassle of taking care of everything, I am comfortable giving up a percentage to pull someone else's trailer and let them deal with all of the office stuff.snowwy Thanks this. -
insurance.
defenitly a BIG reason to lease on.
and if that premium boost takes effect. going to be a lot more leasors and a lot less individuals. -
And no I dont think I have seen very many actual invoice statements,.. when I run brokered loads, the majority are dispatched via the broker and I DO ask questions. I try my best to make 'nice nice' with everyone I come in contact with. You never know. Some brokers I know are full of hot air. They ask me to run directly for them,.. they can keep me running steady blah blah,.. I usually just lie and say I am under contract. I keep them in my book of contacts.
I suppose its fear of the unknown and the safety net my carrier provides for me leaves me feeling secure. I have a good personal one on one working relationship with my carrier. He is a pretty stand up guy. Until the day comes where I know I can handle running my own authority, I am comfortable with the way things are now. I recently had very bad incident where any other carrier would have dropped me like a bad habit. This guy tells me not to worry, that we'll work through it. How can I turn my back on a guy like that?
Like I said in a previous post. I have mad respect for you guys that do it all. I'm not ready for that yet.
Hurstwonderdog24 and RAGIN CAJUN Thank this. -
I will never lease onto someone ever again....I've said it before getting my own authority was the best thing I ever did!
