That's your opinion and your entitled to it. But some of us can handle 70-75. If you like 65 or below great, just please remember "slower traffic keep right".
It's almost impossible to figure what actually happens in real world before doing it. Hell I can't go to the grocery and hold to a shopping list. Too many things can throw the numbers out the window. Like the guys who measure fuel mileage improvements in 1/10's. I guess they don't realize the length of the the fuel nozzle can throw your math off that much. Not to mention the slope of the concrete, temp of the fuel ect. That being said I never drive below the posted speed limit by choice. I may save fuel by slowing down but it also eats time. And since I run local, time lost is loads lost. If I lose an hr or more a day running below the limit I can easily lose 1 or more loads a week. That is easily $1500 gone. No way 5mph is going to save me $1500 each week and last time I checked I was getting 4.8mpg. The way I see it I'd be losing thousands to maybe save hundreds.
Why do YOU speed....if this is all you save?

I think whats most important is running with the flow of traffic. If you're running too fast or too slow, you create problems. Today with so many different governed trucks, things aren't the same.
-
The only time running fast makes you more money,is if your reciever will actually unload you before your appointment time.If not your wasting fuel, and money. Not to mention more stress. And then you have to have another load immediately. The difference between 6.0 and a 7.5 mpg for me means 15 grand a year in my pocket.Thats 300 dollars a week.I dont know about you,but Ill drive 60,you drive whatever you want, and we will both be happy.Except Ill be a little less stressed at the end of the day.Ill run my 3200 miles a week and be happy.

LMAO,A 4.8,JEEZ WHAT KIND OF PIECE OF SH-T R U DRIVING.I can get a 7.0 at 80000 lbs. with my eyes closed. You sound like your proud of that, lol.Just think of how much more money you would make if you ran the same miles at a 6.0.

To funny!
If you only knew. I'll let jfaulk tell if he wants.lostNfound and 07-379Pete Thank this. -
Another expert... with no knowledge.

EDIT: Dang... beat by just " " that much. -
Your getting 7mpg at 80000? I really having trouble believing this. You can get or you do get? Tell us the rest of the story Paul Harvey....Just how bad is that truck cut back? Bet your pulling a van trailer also.
jfaulk hauls are 70000+ ON the wagon, so I really dont think you and your ride are cut out to do what he does on a daily bases.hammer head mn and Les2 Thank this. -
Why would you be stressed running the speed limit?
I'm gonna guess you get paid by the mile... -
Do it every week.I haul reefer. Many times up around 8.0.I have a new Pete/587 with a cummins ISX engine.A 7.0 is a piece of cake.Governed at 66.What difference does that make.Fuel mileage is made with discipline. Not a lead foot.I can run or haul anything you haul and get better fuel mileage than you,and run the same amount of miles.Probably in your truck,LMAO,SUPERTRUCKER.And I do get.You ever notice that the guys that have no clue about fuel mileage are the so called old school truckers that couldnt discipline themselves to get good fuel mileage. So they wanna rag on a so-called new school driver that can and does.Just a way of saying I couldnt do that,so IM gonna rag on you because you do.Inferiority complex or what guys.I love stirring the pot.

Ok from what I've heard about these new motors your MPG's are really high. Not saying you ain't getting it and if you are good for you, but I haven't heard anything good in the fuel mileage department...
I'd bet your MPG's would drop if you was running around at up to 120k gross. When you get into hauling that kind of weight you need to keep it moving or you become a road hazard.
