If you drive 2000 hours/year you make almost $9 k more.

And that's at your coolie carrier .34 pay rate. I average .40 to .45.

here is an interesting thought for you. I drive 60mph. I got a friend that does 68mph. we both are o/o leased onto the same company getting the about the same miles and the very same pay rates. We both drive 06 century's with the cat under the hood everything is the same on our trucks other then his is blue and mine is black. And mine has about 20k more miles on it. on full busy weeks I will have done 7000miles him 7600 miles. His check before expenses is about $700 more then mine. But here is the kicker I avg 8.2 mpg he gets 6.3mpg so he ends up spending about $1400 more in fuel each week. So thus my take home is about $700 more then him each week. After we compared numbers of our last few months of running he now goes 60mph and is getting about 8.1 mpg.

Long story short its all about cost per mile. Also he is not having to fix his truck as often because parts don't seem to brake as fast when you slow down.

    I'm a company driver. Yep, that's right.
...and I own the company. I pay the bills and am responsible for EVERYTHING. Let me suggest that when you pay for your own fuel, you'll make an effort to get as much fuel economy as possible. Speeding costs fuel. Speeding can cause tickets. Tickets can cause higher insurance. Higher insurance means less in my pocket.

To me, it's a no brainer. If I can't deliver a load in the time allotted or suggested, I don't take the load. I'm the boss....remember?

Personally i would think safety would be a huge concern but i guess not after reading through the pages on this.Seems money and time are the only things people think about..

Well i guess once you crash from speeding youll have 1 and not the other.Youll have plenty of time since youll be fired..lol...and no money from being unemployed.

In the end its never worth it.Obv if someone is that focused on the money you should prob be in a better paying job....just my .02cents

What standard are you using to determine what's "safe"? Meaning until recently the speed limit in Ohio was 55 but it was 70 in Kentucky. So in your opinion would driving 70 in Ohio be "unsafe"? Does simply crossing a river make crashes less severe? What's your idea of speeding? Is 66 in a 65 speeding to you? Or is it 10mph over? 15? 25?

If you have about gotten into a lot of accidents because other vehicles were going slower than you, then I would say the trouble is not the slower vehicles.
