Yeah, Rob your details that you added are hard to dispute. Fortunately for me with my 2010 Cascadia I can run over a dead fly and not realize it... but if I happen to hit a paper clip or a small pebble a trip to the chiropractor is a certainty.

As far as keeping your fleet manager happy that takes a $70 investment once a week. When the lot lizard bangs on my door I just pay her and give her the FMs address and tell her to show up 6am Monday mornings.

Trucking is like a hobby. It all depends on your demeanor to the career. My son worked at a factory after high school, and he hated it. When he turned 21, he joined me in trucking. Once he started driving on his own, he hated it. He said the people were rude at the docks, and he didn't like the troopers. He left the trade and joined college, and I guess that was his niche. He graduated and loves what he does now. Me on the other hand, I love driving, so I don't care.

Truck driving sucks big time. Away from home and by yourself for days at a time. Taking showers after 50 other truckers and they only spend 1 minute flat cleaning the shower after each shower. Your kids growing up without you. Your wife cheating on you. Sitting on your butt for hours you get out of shape or fat. You miss most if not all of the family gatherings. DOT breathing down your neck. The money never adds up to the time and energy you put into the profession. The list goes on and on. You have to be a little off in the head if you enjoy OTR truck driving. If you're local working 8-10 hrs a day it' it's a little better but with the pay and the prices of good and services these days you will never have any money unless you live in a shack

If truck driving is as bad as so many drivers say it is, they wouldn't be doing it.
The ones that make fools of themselves are the ones that tell new people to find another career, yet they themselves wouldn't do anything else and have proven it by continuing to drive and not following their own advice.

That's True to a point Chinatown...........

Sometimes drivers give that advice to new entrants because they actually want to help them ,By not wasting their time.

Also,Truckers don't heed their own device because they hit a comfort zone- They would rather complain and cry than change careers, Crazy, but true.

Now,Where's my Beautiful oriental girl waiting at?
