I won't find a local one that checks those boxes either.

Life is too short to slave at LTL. I’ll drive OTR48 or do something else. I’m sure as #### not running back and forth staring at the same cracks in the road every freaking night.

I've worked for CF, UPS and Conway thru my career.
None for even a year but it took 3 times for me to figure out it wasn't for me..despite the pay and benefits.
I'm all for finding your niche in this business.

I believe in variety. Doing the same redundant thing repetitiously over and over the same lane will bore most. Add in some ahole managers micromanaging drivers doesn't help either. For me I had to make a change this year and glad I did. Going from driver to Lease on Owner op is the Best thing I did in my nearly 30 years of driving truck. No harassment from some young punk manager. I've always worked super hard as a driver for someone else for measly pay ($1500 avg/week) & no thanks. Now I'm taking before fuel dedications 4.5 times that. I will tell anyone if you respect yourself & work hard work for yourself.

1500 a week take home ain't nothing to snooze at. That's good money there for a company driver

I never wanted to work LTL because they're typically a seniority based system over proficiency. Also, the "good" outfits are typically union, and I despise them in the modern Era, no matter the good they once did.

And looking at it from the union standpoint, we dislike people who come in, buddy up to the boss, and try to get preferential treatment. It's just different perspectives, and it's perfectly fine.

Because what's the point of doing 30 years at a place if assistant manager Tad's nephew can come in and get the best run at the terminal when he's hired off the street?

I agree, if Tads nephew is a lazy bum that doesn't perform. Both systems have their merits and flaws. I had the worst of it at McLane where senior drivers built custom routes with little work, and high pay; but newer drivers put in twice the work at less than half the pay.

In Ontario, Canada for those who want to be a working slave to the tax system the yeah the money isn't bad. However, thats 61 hours per week overtime after 45 hrs in order of earning $2,136.42 and taxes close to 30% deducation in order of earning $1500 take home. WHY not work for yourself and earn 5 times that? Plus a lesser tax bracket? For me personally I can no longer put up with some younger pretentious punk Manager's crap harrassing me on the phone daily with malicious nonsense.
To much people never realize the reason to factor in inflation rates. Our grocery bill went from $170 cad, to (1st) rise in June $200 to (2nd) $220 give or take one item more or less. Point being, it crazy Not to want to get more for your money. In life price never go down (at least I haven't seen that as of yet) so maximizing anyone profit margin is essential or else whats the point? Earning Good money is earning the most you can in less time.

Ahhhhh Ontario ok...I see. In Memphis TN 1500 can still do some damage even with inflation. It depends on your location though.
