Since I run oversize, I am used to being passed, but if I ease up I lose too much momentum and it's hard to get back to where I need to be. The thing that really gets me is how many drivers, of all kinds, feel like they have to ride besides me and inspect my load. Or worse yet, see how close they can get to me when passing. I usaually gross between 120-150,000 lbs and need plenty of room, so please stop frying to crowd me. If you want to know about the load, shout to me on the CB, and I'll tell anything you want to know. One other thing, when I turn on my turn signal, I am not asking permission, I'm telling those around me that I am moving over because I have to. It's nothing personal drivers, it's just necessary. Thanks

i know what you're saying, my truck's governed at 59. i only drive cali and oregon, so that's not so bad, but it seems like courtesy is a thing of the past sometimes.

The problem is when you are in governed truck with a light load behind a governed truck with a heavier load in hilly country . He slows to 45 m.p.h. and you try to pass but the road levels before you complete the pass and he speeds up and hangs you out there . You 'll stay in the left lane until he comes to another hill .

I am sure the same question could be asked of you. Why dont you just slow down a bit.
You either live in a 55mph state or get paid by the hour so what is the rush. I assume you get paid by the hour because you listed your truck can only go 61 mph. If I am paid by the hour(as I am now) my truck can be governed at 45.5 mph(it is not) and I may not care. If I am paid by the mile I can not work that way.
I wonder? do you see any safety problems with a truck going that slow? Do you find yourself the road block so to speak?
This is just my opinion but I find it mind blowing that a driver(and this happens daily) will get in the passing lane going about 61 mph to pass a truck going 60 mph.
Math trivia: Where are the math stars? How far off am I?
    At 60 mph a truck(driver A) can travel 5280 feet a minute. At 61 a truck(driver B) is just over .015% faster. Driver A travels .9836% as fast as driver B. Driver A can travel 88 feet in a minute. Driver B can travel about 89.3 feet a minute.
If a driver B gets into the passing lane as close as 30 feet(not safe) from driver A to pass and intends to return to the right lane leaving the same 30 feet space the total is about 135 feet needed to pass. Driver B is traveling about 1.3 feet a minute faster. If these figures are even close how many minutes does it take driver B to pass driver A?
If driver B made both lane changes a truck length(approx. 75 feet) apart(a little safer) how long would it take? Does driver B consider that drivers C thru Z (the 4-wheelers and other trucks doing 72n mph+ in a 70) are traveling a considerable amount faster?
Are both drivers paid by the hour? Does driver B wake up each morning wanting to see how much traffic he(or she) can back up? Does driver B delight in making many people angry? Does driver B care that during these times a rolling road block has been created causing the potental for safety hazards? Probably not or driver B would tap the cruise and travel the .015% slower.
Driver B is about 1 and 1/2 tenths faster than driver A(is this correct?). Even if someone is bad at math(I may be) it is clear that with a 1.3 feet a minute gain it will take a while to traverse approximately 225 feet(3 truck lengths) to pass someone. Can anyone say "safety".
At the very least why would driver B even care about making a 1.3 feet a minute gain. How much of an income gain could it possible be? The 3 trucks behind driver B can do 70+ and are losing almost 10 times that amount. Driver B is gaining 1 mph and the others are losing 10 mph.
Driver A is already in a very slow truck so why would driver B expect him to slow down to make even less money?

Is your time more important than others?????

Otherwise, why not just slow down a little.

My truck is governed at 65. In time I have learned to choose my places to pass trucks running close to my speed ie hills, traffic or if it gets to be too much of a hassle like said earlier pull off for coffee or a rest area.

In regards to passing oversized loads I try to watch for bridges and let them know on the radio I am passing. I learned that one on a close call when an oversized moved over to miss junk in his lane and I had just started to pass. I hit the binders and nothing bad happened. Ya live and learn I guess.
