why don't trucks follow the speed limit?

    If your steer blows you will immediately be going slower, so you should be able to press the peddle to gain a little speed.
    If on cruise, it would try to speed you up about as fast as you could get on the throttle.
    No?
    And I would think that just keeping on the road would be more of a concern in those first couple seconds.

    From what I have seen on the road with that type of thing, more than likely we would be going at a 45 degree angle in whatever direction until we could stop.

    I'm limited to 65, I'd be lying if I said I didn't speed. The pedal is to the floor most of the time. Max I'll go over is 10mph, and that's only where I know I won't be bothered by it. I usually go 5 over elsewhere.
