why don't trucks follow the speed limit?

I've been known to get on the cb with a lane blocker and tell them stuff like their tail lights aren't working (at night) or something is dragging off the back of the trailer creating sparks or their door is cracked open or they got a flat tire to get them out of my way. By the time they pull over and find out there isn't a thing wrong they're pissed and I'm down the road.

That's a fascinating analysis. Can you really not operate in a professional manner, or theoretically...?

You do know there are "drivers" out there who, somehow, manage to comply with speed limits, right...?

Huh... I must be dyslexic. ... cause, I drive for werner now and mh truck is governed at 65mph.. so I cruise along at 62mph or 63mph... trucks, cars or joggers passing me on the left dont bother me... but, it does get my goat when I am catching up to a car or especially a truck when I am cruising along at 62mph... cause it takes forever to pass some one at 65mph with cars and trucks are lining up behind me... so.... I just grumble and back off the accelerator and hope they are exiting soon so I can speed up to 62mph or 63 mph...

I was chatting about this with another werner driver the other day.. ne was bragging about how his truck is governed at 66mph and that is what he cruises at.. and said he likes to pass the other werner trucks who are governed at 62mph.. so, I said all werner trucks are governed at 65mph.. maybe a few at 66mph... to which he replied, that I was wrong cause he sees a lot of werner drivers going 62mph or 63mph... well, that is because they are governed at 65mph and dont run pushed against the governer... so he asked why any driver would go 62mph if they could go 65mph... So I said, well Zippy, what are you gonna do if you are cruising at 66mph maxed out against the governor and your right steer blows....sometimes you need to accelerate before you can safely slow down.... and I left him pondering on that thougnt...

So, i really do not mind cars and trucks flying by me... actually I prefer them to fly past me rather then meander pass me going .75mph fast than me.... those our the ones that annoy me....

Some funny #### here and why is the OP worried about trucks going 5 over? I really don't understand his need to post this thread at all.
I generally run 64-66 (my truck's sweet spot) no matter the limit unless of course it's below 60 or a construction zone. I run the granny lane unless I'm passing.
That said, people going slow can be more of a danger than people going fast and I have no problem with people going 70 in a 65 or even 75 or 80 if they're doing so safely. I just don't for MPG reasons unless I'm running behind. The people going 40 in a 65 I do have a problem with. That's dangerous imo.

Probably would be so annoying if you could run at 75.. I sometimes wonder what it would be like on the road if all big trucks were governed exactly at the same speed... I believe it be one giant mess ..

By the way, if you're going 60 mph in a 65 mph zone, you're just as much of a safety risk as the guy going 70. Going too slow is just as dangerous as going too fast.

Sit down before you hurt yourself.
