Diesel is 7.25-7.5 lbs per gallon, most people figure it at 8 just to be safe.

You will notice that guys who haul coils a lot know and already have their equipment on the deck in the same place it was for the last load. While you are standing around figuring out what you are going to need for securement equipment they already have it on the deck because they already knew what they were going to need.

I think it's just doing something you're not used to. I just started in December pilling a flatbed full time and I'm in the same boat. Some days I can make things flow smooth and be pretty efficient, then other days I fell like it takes me forever. I've reorganized my side boxes 3 times now and each time I feel like things are in a better place. I have to keep everything I use in my two boxes between the trailer axles. My coil racks and rubber mats are about the only nightmare to get to as they are always buried at the bottom.

I bought a 16x16 tarp for coils and small things and it has been handy and gets lots of use. It also works perfect for those loads where a 27x16 just isn't quite enough but I don't have to bust out another full size tarp.

Right now I'm more focus on getting my securment correctly, I feel much better knowing my load is well secured vs how long it took to save my life and the folks around me and tarping. I've came to the conclusion that with time I'll get quicker.

I'm with you there. I constantly find myself triple checking every chain, binder and strap before I'm finally satisfied.

The best part is when you start driving you start thinking about if your load bar got put away.

My cousin asked me if I had any nightmares yet, I told him no, and after him telling me his first few weeks by himself in his truck he said he would wake up in the middle of the night because he was dreaming that he forgot to set the brakes and was rolling down the road. Lmao! The night he told me that I did wake up checking my brakes lol.

Seems like we've gotten some new blood in the skateboard forum, enjoying some new humour from new people.

(Not just in this thread but others too)
