I prefer a smaller cab. You can reach everything.
Cabs like the Volvo’s are to spread out. Something falls down between the windshield and the dashboard you have unbuckle your seatbelt and stand up to get it.
I prefer the roominess to be in the sleeper.
Why I won't buy another Freightliner

I want the entire cab roomy along with quite , good storage and well layed out .
Being that I pay for the fuel i want efficiency and couldn't care less about a big hood or looking cool .
No matter the make or machine if you beat the hell out of it ...which I see lots of drivers do ...it will become junk .
If you need proof go check the salvage yards in western north dakota .Rideandrepair and racemaxx24 Thank this. -
Rideandrepair, MACK E-6, mustang190 and 2 others Thank this.

But if he is happy with all that room, more power to him. There is no right or wrong in the different things that please drivers.Rideandrepair, MACK E-6, mustang190 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Back in the day (60’s/70’s), I remember the joke was don’t get near a Freightliner going down the road.....it’ll be shooting the rivet heads at you. Drove an ‘80 Freightliner short wb COE, 3 axle, day cab. Going down a rough section of road the passenger door window would roll itself down

I’m sure I’ll be lambasted for this but I’m of the opinion that of all the present “aero trucks” offered I feel like Volvo does have the best product. The build quality is solid, solid drivetrain reliability and performance, good features. Dealer network could certainly be better but alas. Before anyone gets too excited though notice I said solid, not exceptional. There’s always things that could use improvement, I just feel like their overall product comes out ahead. This is having drove Cascadias, Prostars, T680s and 579s, and Volvo’s of new model aero trucks. For the record I didn’t dislike any particular truck

TALL WIDE AND ROOMY !Rideandrepair, intrepidor and racemaxx24 Thank this. -
We were only going 4 or 5 miles so I told him I would just hold the door shut.
We rounded a curve on 225 east of houston and I wound up with the door open and me hanging from it, the seat fell out on the shoulder of the highway, he neglected to tell me the seat was not bolted down. lol
I have an 88 FLC that is my log truck, it came speced well for off road and is long wheelbase with pete airtrac rear suspension, it has been a good truck, but the freightliners dash is cheap and I have totally rebuilt it, I like the truck other than the cheap dash and the air wipers.ODR, Rideandrepair, OldeSkool and 1 other person Thank this. -

Dashes and doors, I agree. Dealing with all that constantly. Trying to make some improvements, in the process. It’s time consuming though for Me. Freightliner Dealer network has always worked well for Me. Along with Pete and Kenworth for generic parts. Under the hood, Classic is very Mechanic friendly, along with Western Star, Old Stars, and Pete’s are a blast to Drive, IMO. Volvo’s ride good, and are built tight. Airliners rides pretty smooth, overall good ride. I’ll keep my Classic. I know it’s faults. And it’s good points. Kind of like my wife.Lol. Reminds Me, I need to replace passengers door latch. It pops open sometimes. Wife usually screams when it does. I’m gonna miss that. Junk latch only lasted 20 yrs.
