While buying parts yesterday, I read sign on the wall. It read “ A fee of 10% of the labor rate applies for supplies blah blah blah. What a rip off!! They don’t miss a trick. Always padding the repair bill.I avoid their shops, Haven’t been to one in 12 yrs.

Well,it's the same old thing, GENERALLY, trucks are much more reliable these days, and they probably don't have as many repairs, so they have to make up for that with huge hourly repair rates. My favorite is "Shop supplies, $42.00", what the heck cost $42 dollars, the mechanics lunch?:dontknow:

Don’t give them your Truck, when they say, depends on however long it takes. Red Flag!!! I got real Lucky, currently getting an OH, flat rate charge. I supply parts, including Brakleen, assembly grease, oil and AF. I started the process counting pennies. Almost done. Now I’m showing up with “ extras”, bags of zip ties, shop rags, tube of silicone, buy the Guy lunch. I’ll probably end up giving the Mechanic a few more things, that I’ll never use. I’ve got way too much stuff. Buts it’s nice, beats demanding the tube of thread sealer I once paid for at Freightliner, after watching the Idiot barely use any on the threads, on a water valve, that ended up leaking. I’ve learned the hard way, years ago, about Dealers Shops. Always a fight over the bill, with the Service Advisor. Those Guys are Experts at one thing- Pumping up the Bill.

I don’t know I like my cabover, doors do need attention they feel cheap and thin. Changed out hinge latch striker pin and weatherseal. Other than that not much. Ac is either real cold and heater real hot. No in between.

Rideandrepair, Bean Jr. and 201 Thank this.
