So one of friends asked me why I'm getting into trucking. I told him I'm tired of call center jobs and my girlfriend and I broke up so its the perfect time. Her family is huge and they celebrate all these holidays I chose not to. I grew up a only child so I don't like talking in groups of people I like driving I like hearing my own thoughts. Yes the money can be good but I just need a change from the normal everything going on in my life. Do I sound like a loser?

I was basically called one because I don't want to stay in town and stay with my perfectly normal job

So why exactly are you going into trucking? You sounds like you don't like the idea of changing careers because you say you're comfortable with your old career, but on the other hand you are not happy with it.

What's you're plan? Private cdl school, or going to a company through their cdl program and them meeting their requirements on your contract?

I've been trying to get into trucking for 10 years but because of speeding tickets lapses in insurance etc my driving record wouldn't allow it since 2012 I haven't had a speeding ticket or any bad points since then. I want the career change I want to envetually get my own truck. I start Millis Transfer this month and I'm putting in my two weeks notice formally on July 7th I start training on July 25th my last day at my current job is July 21st. Callcenter work has given me all that it can offer I'm ready to embark on a new challenge and if I fall on my face that's ok I can get up again and still know I have no regrets. I've been thinking about getting my CDL since last year weighing the pros the cons praying pushing back the date to start sorting the risks but it's time to move on this dream this challenge reguardless of what others may think

I reread the ops original post and I didn't find anything of him saying he doesn't like change and he feels comfortable where he's at.What I read is he's bored with his job and wants to try something different.

Well I'm kind or like the op, I have a girlfriend who's very social with family and friends. Different than I am, I'm an only child also, like my quiet time. I just started a local job out of school. I think people like us can handle the alone time alot better

Who called you a loser? *Slaps... shake it off. You are going to be a trucker.

You seem to value solitude. And you are gonna get it.

You are engaging into a journey of a life time trucking is not just a job like your crappy call center with over bearing tinpot hitlers standing on your shoulders rasping demands every 5 minutes.

Oh wait. Dispatch does the same thing. Oh well.

Boy howdy, you are gonna find that this Nation has much to offer. Enjoy the trip.
