Dispatch shouldn't do that. I stopped this morning for a nap, under a "hot load". (Meaning, someone other than me promised something, that I'm now being asked to TRY to do) Dispatch called 3 minutes before my alarm went off, asking why I wasn't rolling. We had a quick chat, hung up, got rolling.

Once I was 5-10 minutes down the road I called him back and firmly but politely told him to NEVER call me and tell me to roll. I will be talking with management tomorrow morning in regards to the behavior.

    I'm polite the first time.

Don't let people or yourself get you down.

Cell centers sucks. I worked at 3 in my life and no matter what trucking is a better career then that job.

I've been driving for 18 months. I came out of 4 years in IT (not cell center) and I love this job so much more then I did that one. (And I'm still a computer nerd.) I'm also a very solitude person and this job can been good for that. But do make sure you have plans to entertain yourself. Audiobooks/music/talk radio or you'll go insane and start having arguements with yourself. (I might be talking from experience. >_>). If you have to team due to contact for CDL training just know that part will suck. But you'll get over it. Just don't be hard on yourself. Nothing wrong with driving a truck. (Says a guy who drives a truck.)

I had my grandfather from my mom's side and my grandfather from my dad's side. One was really sociable, had a large circle of friends, etc. The other might've been considered a loser. They're both equals now - equally dead. Their standing in society didn't matter when all was said and done - surely the maggots and worms didn't take any of that into consideration as they consumed those decaying, decomposed, lifeless bodies.
It's your life to do with as you please. #### the opinions and input of naysayers. If you wanna drive a truck, go drive a truck.
Now that you're single, just don't leave your happy socks all over the truck when you turn it into the shop to get worked on - especially if you come to my company.

Am I the only one who has a good dispatch? I never fear from them unless they have a load or I bug them to get a delivery moved up or changed to a relay. (Or they need a favour which they're good at returning.)

You are playing with fire. Be careful here.

Im the same way. If it's to stop due to whatever good reason up to and including 10 hour break in sleeper it's stopped. No child in Dispatcher will think game over and chirp at me get going. No sirree.

I build gaming computers that are monsters in my spare time, takes a month just to plan the specs on my end before I put my money where my mouth is gathering parts to get started.

I consider myself very fortunate and enjoy this part of life immensely. Especially if they work.
