Why is it so hard for some drivers old and new to do things?

So were out at the truck stop now fixing one of our trucks thanks to my dad. He got the bright idea to slide his 5th wheel forward because we've been heavy on our drives and light on our steers out of the elevators. Now then I was always taught not by him of course set trailer brakes, drop landing gear, dump suspension, flip the switch, use a low gear and no throttle and slide your fifth wheel. When don't lock it move forward or back so the pins lock. That is how I did it worked great nothing broke no damage.

His procedure. Set trailer brakes unlock 5th wheel put in reverse hammer it and skid tires. Then he drops his gear and dumps his air after a lot of STOP GOD ###### STOP. Does it my way kinda. Dumps his air drops his gear gets in puts it in reverse and hammers it. In reverse he slid it to far so he puts it in first hammers it again clunk slammed the safety stops after doing this a couple times it was finally stop slide it back because the idiot broke the #### air slide line.

Now then how hard is it to be gentle on equipment when you have to pay to fix it. Follow procedures and do things right so nothing gets broke. If he had the trailer I'm hooked to he would've hit the #### landing gear his trailer has more swing clearance than mine does. It took me 5 minutes to slide my which is fairly long but i would rather be safe and make sure its right as opposed to damaging something. His process when all said and done if I can get a new line or redneck something up out of the blowgun for the air ride seat will have taken almost 2 hours. He has refused to use the blowgun line I bought because the fitting isn't a 90 but it'll get him by. Since I don't want to drive 50 miles to get a new air slide hose.

Ugh if this is how all company drivers treat equipment I don't understand how mom and pops stay in business. I'm horribly disgusted with this at this point in time. 33 years of driving experience supposedly tries to tell me how to do things and the proper way to do things and then does something like this.
