Anyhow if you recognize me then you'll know I'm a recent full blown owner op. for the most part loving making my own decisions. only this spot market freight as we know sucks balls. I'm unfortunately just barely breaking even.
Anyhow I've decided maybe to sign on with one of the medium size boys that allow self dispatch in hopes of finding some regular freight to contract freight to haul. I'm asking about the rates but as always you can't get a response.
And yes I'm aware they all cut the rates etc... but if I can average a little more on rates then this spot market crap I'll be alright, is honesty just to hard to come buy these days? everyone afraid there identy will be shattered if they speak online. I really just want to make an informed decision and not waste a bunch of time and money to chase a few extra pennies....
but to clarify I'm looking at ats dry van division
why is it so hard to get the truth?

Keep calling around and say if you don't tell me rates i can expect then forgot it and I'll move onto the next company.
If they moan say I don't wanna waste both our time because if I come there and its cheap I would just be leaving right away anyway.
If it's a legit company they would give you phone numbers of drivers that work there to call to verify what they saying and you can talk about loads they do.
Or send statements of drivers with names crossed out.
So you truly know about the money.
Just think of all the verification and checking they do on you to get a job and if you can't verify what they paying. Yeah no.

With the mild fear of sounding like a fool. I would assume you'll get better rates as a owner with thier own numbers because your expenses are higher......
How ever here goes. My personal last three trips. 220 miles $1,320, 600 miles $2,100. 900 ish can't remember miles. 25oo ish.
Land star dry box. Be sure to understand that includes extras and fsc. Before landstarss 35%. And before fuel. Fuel in New Jersey 6.09, fuel in New Hampshire 5.79 to 5.89. And then a fuel up in Maine.5.36Another Canadian driver, JJ 501 and RJM1953 Thank this. -

Recruiters aren’t going to tell you much other than what you want to hear. You need to talk to people that are doing it, and ask if they will share their settlements with you with their info blacked out. You can’t take anyone’s word for it without seeing proof. You don’t know what they do or how they run. Personally I’ve never taken my truck anywhere that didn’t have someone I know already pulling there.

Where are you based out of? What are your current expenses? What have you been doing so far and for how long?

I've been in this industry for almost 30 years. Currently planning on changing carriers however, I'm still giving it a little more time. The amount of liars in this business is at a all time high. I honestly can't understand why so much corruption and corrupted individuals involved trying to trap those who are just trying to survive in these times of a recession and imo soon to be depression. From Freight Brokers (charge 15%) to Carriers hiring sub contract lease owner operators but want to charge them 20% to 30% of the loads they carry. Yet, those Carriers have a difficult time showing the rate cons but want you to be happy always having to guess what you're earning at the end of the week is a joke. Even as a kid in the 80' you could estimate by the amount of papers you deliver how much you'll earn that week.
