Everytime I put def fluid in the truck I wonder this. Why arent these tanks more like fuel tanks. It could hold allot more if the filler wasn't nearly halfway up the side of the tank. Why are they built like that

Fill a water jug completely full and fill a water jug half full. Freeze them both, that’s why the def tank can only be filled about halfway.

Yep. Frozen water expands so much you'd split a steel tank if you filled it to the brim and froze it. Gotta have room for DEF to expand.
