Why is the fuel so bad in ND, yet fantastic in MT?

Not necessarily. There are locations in ND, MT and ID that have #1 pumps year round. Waste of money this time of year but hey it does make the exhaust smell nice lol.

SD, too, has #1 all year long. A lot of drivers in that region refuse to run bio and they like the higher cetane rating.

Yeah that Town Pump/PFJ fuel in MT is good stuff. The first time I noticed something was up was when I accidentally filled up with #1 in Columbus, MT and couldn’t believe how great the mileage was. I thought it was because that #1 was some trick high performance stuff, but the #2 is just as good, and like I said both are totally clear like triple distilled vodka, not the ginger ale or yellow pee colored stuff you normally get. And the prices with my fuel discount at PFJ get really good...down in the $2.60’s in some cases. When I add my auxiliary tank I am definitely stocking up on that stuff.

The places around home that still have it it’s just because it’s still in the tank from winter. Most places here just blend it out with #2 in the spring and then blend it back in in the fall. I guess I don’t know anyone personally that will fork over an extra buck a gallon to avoid biodiesel. That’s dedication to the cause.
