I'm not helping a dealer sell my old truck at a substantial profit. I would pass along "copies" of all receipts to new owner. Even for work I done myself has parts receipts.
Any motor work done done by non authorized dealer adds no value even if I did it or previous owner or a local mechanic.

True, but still no paperwork- never happened.
If they claim new radiator or such. That's easy enough to verify. If they claim new overhaul and no paperwork- never happened.

Unless like previously stated he went through a divorce and the paperwork was among the things he forgot to remove from the house. Things get lost during divorces.

You guys ... try dealing with used junk that have no records no idea what is what, why do you think that I keep the junk yard filled?

Just had one scrapped yesterday, got $4500 for it, I bet some of you would have put it on the road but really it was just junk, would not even stay running, needed an estimate $11,000 worth of work, between the engine, clutch and drives being worked on, not worth it so off to the junk yard it went,

Owner operators don't all keep good records. It is such a joke to think this. Many, not most but many throw the receipt in an envelope and that's it. Too many of them are so cheap they do their own work and don't even do that right ... year right you wrench on your own truck, is this why it is coughing under a load or making a loud ticking at idle?

I don't trust any claim, this is why I stress doing due diligence before committing to some truck, even here we get "I just bought a truck and now it is running like crap" threads and still people don't get it.

In my state. Just about every truck has had a rebuild within the last 100k. I've seen 2 that had receipts.

thats fine, all you need is the name of the shop that did the work. You would be surprised, half of these losers will say "i cant remeber the name or where its at"
    No thanks

I took care of a company truck since new to about 540,000 miles last year when I left. Had a spiral notebook that I recorded everything, whether done by me or outsourced. I'm pretty sure the company also kept a file of all expenses. When I quit, I turned in my notebook and told them to make sure they hung onto it, it could help the value of the truck...

The only truck I’ve ever bought from someone I didn’t know personally with a rebuild came with receipt copy’s of the overhaul from the Detroit dealer. No receipt on a rebuild and it didn’t happen. Period. It’s that easy.
