This is why the best thing to do when you’re thinking of changing companies is get the new job and take a week or two off at your old job , to make sure the new job is actually going to work out
this kind of thing is unique to the trucking industry
normal businesses normally don’t change job offers after they’ve made an offer in writing and you’ve accepted etc
in trucking it happens all the time
so once you get the new job offer in writing , instead of turning in your truck and quitting .
tell your dispatch you have a family emergency, and need a few days off to assist with your grandfathers move into hospice or whatever .
That will get the dispatch to route you back to your home terminal and give you a few days off .
or if you’re at the home terminal , tell dispatch you’ve got diarrhea really bad and are dehydrated etc and it’s gonna take a two or three days to get it over with
Or just take a vacation and burn up your vacation time if you have any .
this way you can actually start the new job for a few days and get through orientation before quitting the current company .
be sure to take lots of pictures and videos of the truck when you drop it off , otherwise they will usually say you damaged itSpeed_Drums Thanks this. -

It comes down to 'Proactive' & ' Reactive' thinking and mentalities that a good majority of people follow and it falls under 'reactive' thinking. Like sheep, most office staff follow a nonthought process and simply just go mindless when processing new employees. Later saying, 'it fell through the cracks' placing the blame through someonelse. 'Insurance' should of been the main processes leading to accidents or any tickets on a driver's record. However, usually in larger trucking companies that use group insurance things might be over looked depending on the severity of the accident or incidents on record. I had the last company I worked for most of career call their insurance broker, and made sure they dug up anything they could find on me. It was a pathetic way of trying to trap me so I would stay with them.
