In the new Cascadia, if you have the right package you can run against the governor at 62 and get 9-10mpg over variable terrain. I forget what the rear end ratio was, something ridiculous like 2.62 or whatever. You’re not winning any races but whatever speed you’re trying to do, you get up there and then you only give it enough throttle to keep it there. Like you have an egg under the accelerator.

In certain situations speed is king. FCFS world is cutthroat.

And btw OP... you’re not going to sell any flatbed company drivers on that stuck in a dock for the same appt time. We get unloaded when we get there, as soon as we get there, 99% of the time, on the flatbed side of trucking. Our appearance can sometimes shut down a whole jobsite to get us unloaded, because we aren’t a bunch of fruitcups hauling fruit cups, in flip flops.

Don’t neuter the flatbed guys. We need to stretch the legs on our truck.

Even with a van and a appointment ariving early can offten get you unloaded earlier.
Especially when the guy that's running behind isn't there and you are and they have an open dock.

I've drove a cascadia with dd13 ,236 axles and direct 10 speed manual. Still only got 6.5mpg with 65mph governed.

Stop bumping the governor, turn the cruise off and shift low at the lowest rpm to get into the next gear that you can. Allow yourself to slow down on climbs and coast as much as possible to get to your governed speed down hills... then lightly rest your foot on the accelerator like all you’re trying to do is bypass the governor. Like there’s an egg under your foot. Your leg should be tired from essentially holding it up all day.

This is from El Paso to WV, idling day and night, with a 48,000 lb load of cultured stone. It’s also after sitting for the last 2 days idling because I ran all the miles off of the load before the first drop on Tuesday. Tellin ya, the egg method works better than cruise.

You may get them for a price, but you pay to have them removed when you turn in the truck.
