There's an Ambest in Lawrence, KS that has a nice selection of boots. They also have a massage parlor upstairs.

you claim to have 30 years experience?

    was that in truck driving..??

i mean c'mon man, i retired at 48 years, and i learnt about that stuff, 6 months into my long storied career.

just bring a carry-on ice cooler, and you're done.

I keep an emergency fund with enough in it to rent a car/mini van from pretty much anywhere in the U.S. just in case. I'm one of those that has everything but a kitchen sink with them in their truck. In the very unlikely event I get 'stuck' far from home, I'm gonna get me and my stuff home. One way or another!!!

May I reccomend Lucchese (pronounced Lou Casey) for the cowboy boots, and pass on the chrome tips.

On your initial question, I'm not sure anyone here can answer why you decided to go work for those cheap bastids. I guess if the pay is high enough, maybe its worth having to build out the interior of the truck yourself.

We used to have an older driver working for us, he carried a $100 bill in his wallet, to buy a bus ticket home if he needed it. The company would never do that, but it was a lesson he learned in a 50 yr career.
