You know, I really just don't miss having a CB in my truck. Even when I did have one, it was off most of the time and when it was on all I ever heard was a bunch of people talking trash and asking for smokey reports...
Big Don Thanks this. -
I used mine when needed for shipper/receiver. Otherwise, I just couldn't stand the garbage on there. -
I wear half gloves like weight lifting gloves to protect myself from the steering wheel diseases and getting colds and sick from touching someone elses filth. Forgot to mention that they leave the a/c or heater on full blast as well. Too much trouble to flip the knob or turn off the radio. Too much trouble to write up a flat tire let alone do a post trip. Too much trouble to roll up the passenger window when you're done during the day when it gets down into the 30's or 20's at night . Too much trouble to back the truck in between the lines let alone back it in straight. It rained during the day?? How 'bout turning the wipers off before you shut the truck down? And why is it so necessary these days to run with the fog lights on in the yard !! Too much trouble to wipe down the rear window after you plowed through a puddle so that all the filth makes it near impossible to see through. I'll think of more.

Other than that, I am perfectly content to while away the hours enjoying the scenery and thinking to myself. -
Been slip seating for over 7 years now and to me it all comes down to leaving the truck the way you found it.
The way truck assignments work at Con-way is simple - they are assigned to the night line-haul driver. I'm a night line-haul driver here so the truck I drive is assigned to me only. Day assignments are generally based on two drivers working it out or whatever works best time-wise. I start at 7 PM and am done by 8:30 AM so someone in that window runs my truck.
Although I smoke, you would never know it by jumping in my assigned truck. I'm very very clean and am extremely picky about my trucks interior. The windows are always spotless, the floor is swept and wiped down daily (I've put down my own mats), the dash is Armor Alled and I expect it to be returned in the same condition. I also keep a large bottle of hand sanitizer on the floor for cleanliness..
Since the truck is assigned to me, I leave my slip-seat box in the truck which contains very good equipment. Currently, one of our new extra board drivers runs it during the day. I could not pick him out of a line-up and honestly have absolutely no freakin clue who's been running it but I like him - other than the seat position I would never know anyone else drove it because it's returned to me the way I left it..
Bottom line when slip-seating - clean up after yourself..
