You obviously never ate at a real truckstop. None of the ambiance you mentioned, but there were places that had GREAT food. Now they're all cookie-cutter crap.

On this, we will have to disagree, Ma'am. There is nowhere near "plenty" of stopping power in a .380ACP. As for cops being a good source of info where firearms are concerned, I'd disagree there, in many cases, too. :biggrin_25519:

Probably so - we should rely on folks like truck drivers or librarians who carry weapon on duty for their entire careers, continually qualify and re-qualify, shoot competitively, etc....

What a silly statement. Just because cops don't carry Desert Eagle .50s because their weight would pull a guy's pants down doesn't mean they don't know what can stop a man when fired.

Another company 9 to 5'er heard from. Maybe you can push your arse, roll that chair away from your desk, take a stroll on your one hour plus lunch break or get in your car and drive down the street and back but for us low-lifes who have deadlines to make well, we just don't seem to have time to even __shower let alone time to go strolling around looking for a restaurant. Enjoy your meal and your leisurely stroll you Jack Wagon....

Company 9-5er? I don't work for a trucking company, let alone follow a 9-5 schedule.

Talking about driving, dude... and with 1.3 million over 8 years, including 3 years teaming with the wife... I still try to eat at a nicer restaurant than settling for whatever fast food joint is at the truck stop.

Additionally, YOU made the choice to drive, so no matter where someone works or what they do, don't be hatin' because you're stuck in your truck 24/7 - that's YOUR choice, jack wagon - whatever that means.

Except when I was running as an expeditor, or running UPS/Fedex loads with my wife, I always trip plan to make sure I have some decent time for myself - exercise, shower, a good meal, maybe some entertainment like a movie or karaoke. I'm sorry if your grouchy butt still thinks it's chained to the truck seat - get out and live a little, man!

And another thing, my friend with the lame, goofy, 70s-style trucking movie or lame country song screen name... if you read my post on that subject, I'm not talking about taking a lunch break, I'm talking about when you're done for the day, and want to get your supper meal. Instead of having Subway again for the 187th time that month, I don't get why people won't take a short walk (exercise is good for you) and go to a different place to eat - a place with a menu, friendly service, and not the typical jaded truckstop employees who consider drivers to be scum.

I enjoy just being treated like a "guy" at Cracker Barrel instead of "another driver" at the truckstop.

Stopped at the Pilot in Madison, GA for the night, only food choice was Denny's. Overall food was OK, except for the instant mashed taters! But the service was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! It was so bad that other customers were openly joking about it!

On the plus side because my service was so bad I got a free dessert! The new MAPLE AND BACON SUNDAE is sooooooooo good!.........:biggrin_25514:
