I now currently drive for Werner. Today I got my first chance at driving. I dropped an empty at the yard and picked up a loaded trailer. I made my first stop in Tuscaloosa,AL. My next stops will be in Illinois. I'm leaving in the early morning to start that run. I'm on a dedicated Office Max account and my trainer is good and the company is a whole seems good. I just don't see why people hate this company? They are a nice company to work for.

I haven't heard as much negative about the company itself, but I have heard more than a few things about some of their dirtbag drivers. No offense meant to you of course.

    Well, Congrats Boss!

First, I would say you're still on your "honeymoon" with Werner, let us know what you think in a few months.

Second, Werner is one of the "rookie" companies. Nothing wrong with that, as we were all green once, had to start somewhere. Just be polite, and extend professional courtesy to other drivers, you'll be fine. One of my biggest pet peeves with newbies is the lack of truckstop courtesy. You see this a lot out of green guys, I think simply because they don't know any better. My top 3 gripes are as follows: 1) Fuel islands are for fueling. Get your fuel, PULL FORWARD WHEN FINISHED, go use the can and/or get a quick bite to eat. If you're going to be a bit, PARK IN THE LOT!!! I have had to back out of fuel islands where chuckleheads have gone to sit down in the restaurant, even had a few taking a shower. Hate that. 2)When you see someone trying to back into a spot, give him a second and be patient. It'll only take a minute or two. And 3) (This is a biggie with me) There is no need to be on the high side of the splitter going thru the parking lot. 5-10 MPH is plenty fast enough.

Good luck to you, keep the dirty side down!!

It's like picking shoes. The only thing that matters is the fit between you and them. It doesn't matter if others like $3000 Italian, hand-made loafers in size 13. Your size 11 work boots fit you.

There are too many variables between drivers and companies for one driver to make employer decisions for another driver.

Wow, that must have been funny to watch. I've heard of a lot of drivers not taking "shag" loads when offered and wonder why the dispatcher doesn't give them long loads. The way trucking works is never refuse any loads. Yeah some loads may be short, but the dispatcher may be setting you up for longer loads that's in the current area of your final drop.

As long as you don't take any of those "shag loads" on your "chin" - you'll be fine...
