why trucking when it's a high risk , long hours, unhealthy , and low paying job?

I'm guessing fuel hauling.

 

Plan as if you're going to be unemployed after your next DOT physical.

 

Don't waste that 34 hr. reset or time off at home; make some money & put it in your retirement account:

Percocets, amphetamines
Black beauties and west coast turnarounds
When the coast is clear I drive with my knees
I mix it all up in a recipe
Coca-Cola and coffee to wash it down

 

Fuel hauling is one way. LTL, or working for a private carrier are other ways.

 

In 1953; it was a way to get paid for and vehicle furnished traveling and see the US.
Since I'd been doing it on weekends junior and senior year of high school. Decided to widen my horizons.
So by 1958, I had toured 44 of the 48 plus all the way across to the south border of Mexico.

It was fun, educational, and so interesting. "New names, new faces, always in different places...."

An experience most of you have not or will ever experience.... It gone...

 

Besides the long hours I see none of that being true, about the hours though, I can do 14 pretty easy in a truck with out getting to tired or bothered by it, but if I had to work a jobsite for 8-12 hours (which I have done in the past) I would end up going postal and making my why to jail for the rest of my life. I get freedom from people, I get left alone to do my job, I get to see alot of the country that alot of people never get to see or only look at in pictures, I also get money, for an uneducated mook I do pretty dam good in trucking and have my whole adult life.
