How about the pole car driver that wants to run right in front of you instead of way out front so you have time to stop.

I also like the ones that say you just hit the curb instead of saying you are close on the curb so I can slow down and adjust.

I have fired more than one that didn't have a clue why they were being let go.

It’s a treat, you will love it!

Say like the text Message I got last Sunday night at midnight - after confirming the pick up time for the morning at the ~TX/LA line earlier -

‘My Truck is broke and I am not coming”

4 hours wasted in the morning lining up a replacement

Come to find out the ‘pilot’ was 12 hours away in FL

    Again, you will love it!

I'm the one responsible for the load. Not the escorts, not the cops. You guys are showing up like you're on vacation, and this is life or death for me. Before we start off, I will tell you what I want to hear. Sometimes escorts think they know better than the drivers, BUT reread the part in bold print.

"Why dont drivers listen to escorts?"

The first thing you are going to do is tell me about how big the loads you escorted. Dont do that. Dont want to hear it. Just tell me that you are always on time and then show up on time. That's actually more impressive to a driver.

"But Six, what if the driver is fairly new?"

It will be evident. Rookie drivers will hand you a permit and trust you to lead them to the Promise Land. Experienced drivers will have their homework done. Turn by turn. Ask him a question like, "What time is sunset?"

And a good driver will know for where he's at as well as 600 miles down the road.

You see, this is all information that I want to hear. This is what will make me a better escort in the future. All these different situations are very understandable. Although some of them are a little ridiculous, like the not having a full tank of gas, it does help. But, Triplesix, how do escorts already have the route planned out? I've been on plenty projects where we routed different to the same place several times. Although I mostly know my way around, sometimes them Texas permits throw me for a loop.

It is quite easy to email permits to escorts if needed.

Yes I have had escorts show up and not gassed up, pole cars without a tape measure, and quite a few that I don't know how they find their way home.

The little book that many use for info is not always right, I don't even have one anymore

A good pilot car driver should:
Own the pilot car. (a pick-up)
    Be a retired heavy/oversize driver.
Have the ability and equipment to repair tires on the road.
Carry blocks, extra gas, diesel, flags & extra radio.
Still have a Cl 1 license.
Have the ability to load any equipment.
Not bark out ever single thing that is obvious to the driver.
Have a well stocked ice chest in back of pick-up for the end of the day.

You’re hired - now just be where I want you when I want you there!

Might be headed to your general neck O’ the woods. Bud a piece from where I am in Florida to woodland - 110k tracked crusher. If it comes through Zoe would like another chance to get a piece of you....
