To be fair, in your example of the road being closed, the regs allow for you to continue driving till you find a safe spot to park.

    I fully agree!
Should have heard the CB yesterday. I came down 11 and rolled on to 80 west at Youngstown, CB started up with chatter of a major wreck on the bridge ahead. East bound said there was multiple 4 wheelers and semi to boot. Drivers were like scared mice trying to figure out how to get to a safe space. From what I was hearing, they were turning people around and sending them right back east. I lucked out and made it to 11 south, went down one exit and headed west to N. Bailey rd, made a left turn north and came out at exit 57 at the Truck World truck stop on 76.

Sorry. Guess I'm not understanding what you were saying. Thought you were talking about the idiots parking on the shoulder cause their clock expired while sitting in an unforeesable traffic shut down. Each and everyone of them should have continued driving to the next sage place to shut down, and been perfectly legal to do so.

They don't allow you go past your 14, and most drivers, unless they are only driving that day, will probably hit their 14 before their 11, or at least shortly thereafter.

It is not illegal to exceed normal HOS at the direction of law enforcement or for certain adverse conditions

Adverse conditions gives you up to an extra two hours to drive, but doesn't extend your 14.
