I know this is late but....I’m shopping right now for a rig. I keep seeing Western Star rigs with super low mileage in the 40 and 50k range. The one I like has 23k miles for 43k. The other has 56k for 46k. Seems mind blowing the price on these rigs. No accidents and they look clean. Any word on the reasoning behind the price I’m finding on these older trucks with low miles?

Both are 2011 4900sb

Oil patch trucks? There was an auction in Regina last year, had some Kenworth 2006-2009 that had under 100,000 miles on them. They were designed standby trucks for oil field work.

Rode hard beat to #### and probably north of 70% idle time. Not good for an emissions truck.

Yeah that’s what I thought. Came from Texas oil fields. I heard they were good for taking in the woods. I plan on starting out logging with the guy who taught me to drive and then work my way into flat bed. Might be getting this Freightliner if the inspection goes good. It has some oil wickin in the injector harness and pulled a little to the left. It’s geared right though and if the mechanic gives it the green light it’s a go.

Not trying to hijack the thread but I have always had Peterbilt and KW trucks
Been looking at a big bunk WS with the dd16 engine 2021 5700XE
Is this a good truck and motor or a future nightmare?Last edited: May 24, 2021
