Why you should NOT attend company CDL training.

It is not a student loan, so it won't affect Financial aid from the government.

The freight is there for those willing to run it. We broker quite a few loads out that we can't cover. I run into O/O's all over the country that tell me they are on a Stevens load, so there is no excuse for not getting miles except a record of service failures.

I Don't believe I said you could not, what I said was that the loan Stevens makes you is not a DOE Student loan and as such does jot affect your financial aid situation.

Your post indicates it would.

 

Not everyone can get the financing for a student loan.

That is not what you said, however addressing that, if one signs the Stevens contract, they should fully expect to stay a year. It is no different than any other loan one signs, there is an agreement and you follow your end of it.

As another poster said, not all qualify for Student aid. Also company schools can be quite a bit less expensive too, so to each his own. Your way worked for you, the company school way has worked for others.

 

I've spoke with many guys out here who got CDL without a trucking company and they had never got any road driving or very little. When you go with a trucking company by the time you go to get your CDL you have a lot of driving experience. Also companies may make you still do some kind of training with them before you get your own truck because you still dont have any experience. Just a thought.
