Don't confuse him with facts. It confuses his agenda.

Not to mention I've seen thrive at Stevens Transport on $1.04/mile+FSC.

Heck as a contractor I was banking 12-1500 a week.

But according to him I was going bankrupt. LOL

Lol people always say to me you don't make money doing this. If I didn't I wouldn't be the only one in my family working and supporting my wife and 2 kids. Still had a truck payment on my 2014 T680 which is paid off now. People think they need $5 a mile to make it out here.

Me I doubt I ever would. I like being my own 100 percent. No worries if I don’t want to work for months. But for some it is an easier way and can see the right situation working just fine.

That’s really just buying a job, If you are happy with that great but I have zero desire to run 2700 miles a week, I don’t NEED $5 a mile, but I’m certainly not moving for much under 3.50-4 mi or $125 an hour depending on customer

TONU and couple hours detention. My flat rate isn't $2.25 as my FSC depends on area. $2.25 is the lowest sometimes its $2.31 and higher just depends on what pad I'm in for FSC. But I also get hourly detention and layover when I don't move 200 miles within 24 hours of $400

Each of there own I work hard and then take time off. I also don't gotta worry about insurance cost or anything else. While I've thought about going to get my own trailer again market is too unstable

I have to agree with the Op.
When a O/O is driving an avg. of 2500 miles still has weekly truck payments ($750), fuel/def ($3850), tolls ($250), insurance ($410), phone ($21.33), Load boards ($70) etc. Expense: $5,281.33

$2/mile @2500 miles = $5000 (not eating this week because I'd be $281.33 in the hole)..

Now @ $3/mile for 2500 miles there is a major difference of $2,218.67 after weekly expenses.

Imo knowing some company drivers who earn $2200/week (driving a company truck) a O/o earning should be $3,468.67 on avg. ($3.50/mile avg.) makes more sense to at least pay yourself $2000/week and use the $1468.67 as an emergency reserve (16.8% of your gross for emergency funds 1/6 or even better 1/3 of your overall gross = $2887.50) this still leaves you a weekly wage of $581.17 (of course at lease $1000 is satisfactory and reasonable)

Note: I included higher fuel rates avgeraging $7.65/gallon the way fuel prices are going in the future.

Might want to check for a typo on your fuel/def costs because $3850 doesn't make sense.
