The only time I can see that scenario being advantageous is when someone either can't afford the GL on his own as a new entrant, don't want the responsibility/target on their back that comes with it or they are uninsurable so they have to run under someone else's authority.
Why you'll go Bankrupt hauling around $2 a mile loads

As far as why spot market vs a carrier with contract freight?
Well number one who says the carrier will give you the good loads? Or not photoshop rate cons? That stuff does go on.
Who says that those contracts will be any good either?
Like I've said before, I've done both and I do better leasing on to run off load boards.
If the market goes to junk which it has I've switched to flatbed and avoid bad areas. I've found myself doing a lot more shorter runs to stay in good areas and have maintained good rates and revenue still.
Best part of working off of loads board is you can post your truck and fairly often you get a desperate broker that's willing to pay the moon to get something moved.
There's not to say there good carriers with good contracts out there. However I've yet to been blown away by anything when I've inquired going down that road. -

As far as the pneumatic, you kept changing deduction amounts and percentages to fit your narrative so I thought I may as well move the goal posts too. No harm in inconsistencies, right? I just hope this thread is still around in a couple weeks when I get paid for this round so you can say that what I made isn’t possible on 2100 miles with a dry van in this market. And then you can tell me I’m giving up too much and I should chase spot freight while paying someone’s cargo and liability insurance for them. -

There's countless jobs with different numbers.
In general the 88-90% ones you pay cargo and liability, the 65-85% ones more often is included.
Nobody should believe anything anybody says on here anyway, me and you included.
Real easy to photoshop a settlement or for someone to have an agenda here.
I'm still waiting for someone to post the 90% pay carriers to lease on with no deductions and everythings included, being you know I'm in fantasy land for picking out only Craigslist ads that have deductions.
