I tried to western express some money to a family member about a year ago online, what a hassle. First CC I tried it wouldn't accept, tried a second one and same thing. Then got on the phone. Turns out both CC automatically were disabled when an attempt to use them came from the western express site. If anyone is thinking about doing that you may want to call the cc company ahead of time.

As for the OP it's amazing how many don't even change the default password on their router. I thought about locking my neighbour out of theirs. :)

The day I log into my bank or submit cc info from a public hot spot isn't going to happen.

With some of the big hacks like Home Depot we're all at some risk but keeping it to a minimum isn't hard.

the electronic system isn't fool proof.

it'll never be foolproof. unfortunately. we'll all just have to deal with the risks. of being seen. and hacked.

hackers win, companies patch up. and hackers find a way to beat the patch. and companies find another patch. and on and on and on.

You can log into your router as Admin, default login usually... then change the router Login info and yes you can change the Router pw needed for access.

Bring up a browser and type in http://192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.0 and you should see your router. Try Admin as user name and leave pw blank, or you can Google the model number of your router and Google "what is default username and Password for model xxxxx",,, whereas xxxxx is your model number.

On my Arris to change the User name and Password is under security... yours may be under settings.

Most routers like mine at home require you to plug an Ethernet cable in direct to first set the admin password. Just for cases like this.

I am on a Network so technically the Lan cable does it make its way to the router via A DynaDock and then USB3 to my computer.

Google is your friend in any case. Google how to set the user id/pw for your model.

Just do not forget your information that you change it too. Some will allow you to do a factory reset if you forget.
