When you go to the website of the agency in your area you can look at the list of in demand jobs, and if what you want is on it, then you can get the money for training if you qualify. Where I live in California truck driving is an in demand job so I got approved into the program.

Who did you speak with? I called the Indianapolis number this morning that Walstib posted at top of the page. They said that yes, funding is available in Indiana through WIA, providing that the training is for a job that is in demand in Indiana. The last time I checked, trucking is a big industry here in this state...don't they call it the crossroads of America? To add to that, Indiana's governor, Mitch Daniels just put out a "hot jobs" list of Indiana's 50 hottest jobs of the future and truck driving is listed at #19. It's also on the WorkOne unemployment website. I went to WorkOne today and they said we can meet their every Wednesday to discuss training and so I will go next Wednesday...but as far as I am concerned..that would be pure and total bs to even suggest that trucking is not an important field of work in this state.
See this Indiana list here from the WorkOne website..trucking IS on it. https://netsolutions.dwd.in.gov/hh50/jobList.aspx?hotJobs=true

I don't think the WIA program can be used if you want to train in the same career field you just came out of.

the job opportunities are not out there for a class b, where the jobs requiring a class a are,

it made me more marketable in the work force

that is 2 of the things that they looked at when i was in the program to get me approved for the grant

My WIA rep required me to do research and cut out ads from local paper showing that there are jobs out there...Fortunately, want ads for Class A drivers has been dominating the help wanted ads for months, the day I looked there were over 15 out of the 21 total ads(VERY small town here)...
