A semi-truck rolled over on U.S. 93 16 miles north of Wickenburg, leaving one person dead and closing the highway for much of the day Thursday, according to the Department of Public Safety.
There was a passenger vehicle as well, although its involvement is unclear.
The semi-truck was engulfed in flames on its side off U.S. 93 at milepost 192.
Traffic was rerouted through an 18-mile detour on Arizona 89 and Arizona 71.
Almost an hour later in the same area, a semi-truck carrying 13,000 pounds of ammonium had one of its tanks punctured, spilling the chemical onto the highway, according to a release from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
U.S. 93 was shut down at milepost 192. It was reopened around 3 p.m.
The highway, which connects the Valley to Las Vegas, is two lanes where the semitruck rolled and is about 4 miles away from where DPS helicopter pilot Matt Uhl and two BMX bikers was killed in a head-on collision Sept. 20.
