Regional is our 7-10 days, home for 2-3. You can ask to take hometime almost anyplace, but it's not guaranteed. So it shouldn't be too difficult to set up parking at whatever terminal is closest to where your wide is working.
I would not broach the subject until hired and then say "my wife has a temporary job in XXX, can I set up hometime there for the next couple months?".
Wife wants to travel nurse, I want to follow her, Can I get a regional or local job anywhere?

Transfering depends on if they have work, if they don't have work at that hub, then what? You can't transfer.
This isn't a place where you can get up and go find another job. Either your wife needs to find work locally or you have to find another means of work.bryan21384 and Chinatown Thank this. -
Call me lazy but if my wife was a travel nurse and making over $3k a week I’d probably just take up some hobbies and keep myself occupied wherever she was working.Crude Truckin', firemedic2816, DRTDEVL and 4 others Thank this. -

If you're not sure yet what type(s) of freight interest you the most -- starting out at a "mega-carrier" like Schneider will let you transfer from acct to acct (as described earlier/above) to "sample" different trailer types -- & ALL WITHOUT SWITCHING CARRIERS.
This of course is a great way to build a CDL resume -- & is an entry strategy that is very much overlooked by new CDL holders.
Since I left Schneider -- they have developed accts with flatbed, conestoga...&/or reefer trailers. Some jobs with Schneider now require a doubles/triples endorsement.
ALSO: Schneider is VERY BIG on safety.
I bring up the safety topic to point out that Schneider has what's called "stop work authority" -- meaning, if the weather &/or road conditions are sufficiently bad -- THE DRIVER has the final say to "park it" (where it's safe & legal to do so)....& wait for conditions to sufficiently improve.
Let's face it -- sometimes it's simply too dangerous to drive. PERIOD.
Schneider understands this problem.
Not all carriers are like that.
I feel reasonably confident that other mega-carriers also have a similar safety outlook (e.g., Swift, Werner, Roehl, Knight, etc).
Anyway....the above is offered merely as "food for thought".
