I have read in here that you can buy a monthly or even a yearly subscription for wifi access at Flyin J or Pilot ? Does anyone know the cost for this and if you would recommend it ??

Wouldn't it be cheaper to have the internet added on to your phone plan?

I would hope that it would be a lot cheaper by the month.

I've been a yearly PFJ Premium subscriber for years. ($99/yr). They upgraded most locations by about 12 months ago. We only fuel at PFJ so I try and overnight at them as much as possible so for me, it makes sense

80% of the locations provide good or excellent throughput across much of their lot area, even during peak periods. It's rare I find a spot or location where speed is unacceptable.

But I also hotspot with my phone, too when elsewhere. For $99 year, it's an excellent expense if you frequent PFJ often.

But keep in mind, some devices have lousy wifi antennas and can't work well except to very close wifi extender antennas. My mac works well anywhere but my iPhone has to be right on top of the antenna

I downloaded a huge update one time at the Flying J in Phoenix this past summer. I think it was about 7 gigs. It was a Sunday afternoon and it took only about 6 or 7 minutes. But that was an exceptional throughput but the point is throughput is generally good, most anywhere. Only a handful of locations still run legacy wifi network system (like Broadway J's in Washington)
