Keep in mind that WiFi is a two-way operation. Putting a booster on your end doesn't help the other end. It would be like having a big CB; you can talk to someone who has a stock CB miles away, but they can't reach back to you.

All WiFi boosters boost both TX and RX, in years of doing IT work for a living I've never seen one that only deals with one direction, wouldn't make sense.

Its the milowatt rating. Basically the true power potential of an antenna. Not sure why they'd recommend the lower one.

I made on of those with an old DirecTV dish and a USB WiFi adapter years ago and got like 150 wireless networks, I was hilarious.

The one I ordered, 2000 mw, (according to the description for the device entitled 5000 mw, it was actually 1500 mw... maybe it was a mistake) and it comes with 7dbi antenna. If I need to strengthen it, I'll look into better antennas or even make one.

This is the one I bought: http://www.amazon.com/Alfa-AWUS036NH-Wireless-Long-Range-Screw-On/dp/B003YIFHJY/ref=pd_cp_pc_2

This is the 5000 mw model... but look in the description and reviews (you need 2 usb plugs... 1 usb only puts out 2500 m): http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L2P3TRS?psc=1

considering that wifis usually have sucky speed. why bother with an amplifier.

the smart man buys a sprint phone or tmo. i pay $67.50 with taxes for unlimited everything. the extra charge would be the hotspot feature. to which i have an app that allows free use.

sprint works pretty good on the east coast. coverage is getting better on the west coast. i cut my bill in half and gained much more in the amount of services by switching from verizon.

internet not a problem. wifi not a problem. not amplification needed.

I'll spend the $60 for amplification. If it doesn't meet my needs, I can use it for something else. Most Wifi connections work fast for me. Free is free. Sprint is horrible, the worst, from what I'm reading on the internet. T-mobile is bad too. At&t is who I will go through if I have to. $60 a month. I will try them for 1 or 2 months, and see if they are worth it. I have Verizon and am willing to spend $180 for 20GBs... if I need more, then I will be forced to do AT&T.
