I've been right on the cusp of diabetes for a while and my doc is wanting me in for an a1c test in about a week. If I am over on my a1c and get an actual diabetes diagnosis will it increase my insurance rates and is there anything extra I need to to do as far as the fmcsa is concerned?

Depends on insurance for part one.

Part 2 yes. Your A1C has to stay below a certain number or they can pull your CDL. Make sure your doc knows you are DOT and not to give you insulin. Get pills. Insulin will make you lose your CDL. They will also give you a 1 year card as opposed to 2 year.

First an a1c isn’t how you are diagnosed for the disease. You need to take a fasting glucose test and a glucose tolerance test. An a1c shows you could have it but it doesn’t mean you have it, you need to get a complete picture.

the second thing is which insurance?

    your liability insurance?

never heard that one before because it is irrelevant.

Your last A1C before your med card exam needs to be 10 or below. They will also check your sugar level day of exam it needs to be below 200. Both very easy limits to hit

Any/all of my insurances through progressive for having my authority is what I'm worried about increasing. I'm coming up on my first year being in the books and don't want to get blind sided with an increase in cost because of a new diabetes diagnosis.
As far as the diabetes itself goes the doc was pretty adamant about the a1c showing me to be on the threshold of diabetes and didn't mention the other tests you did. I will ask her about them.

Insurance might go up if yoi get put on meds cause you will have a copay and copays to see doctors. Your premiums shouldnt go up because of diabetes.

Your doc should follow the protocols on how It is diagnosed, a1c is an indicator, not a confirmation.

I never heard the owner’s health condition determining the insurance cost for an authority.

There is no reason for them to know or would they find out. It doesn't effect them.
