I've been right on the cusp of diabetes for a while and my doc is wanting me in for an a1c test in about a week. If I am over on my a1c and get an actual diabetes diagnosis will it increase my insurance rates and is there anything extra I need to to do as far as the fmcsa is concerned?

Part 2 yes. Your A1C has to stay below a certain number or they can pull your CDL. Make sure your doc knows you are DOT and not to give you insulin. Get pills. Insulin will make you lose your CDL. They will also give you a 1 year card as opposed to 2 year.RunningAces Thanks this. -
the second thing is which insurance?
your liability insurance?
never heard that one before because it is irrelevant.RunningAces Thanks this. -
Your last A1C before your med card exam needs to be 10 or below. They will also check your sugar level day of exam it needs to be below 200. Both very easy limits to hit

As far as the diabetes itself goes the doc was pretty adamant about the a1c showing me to be on the threshold of diabetes and didn't mention the other tests you did. I will ask her about them. -
