Will a "Rear End" accident end my CDL Career?

    Try at all possible to have insurance, no matter what. Unfortunately it will probably cost you more now. But you have to have it. I do. You can too. IF retail insurance laughs you out of their store, the State in which you live will also offer liability insurance as a last resort at a slightly less cost. I recall spending some time with Maryland buying my required insurance direct from the state. I think it was 250 dollars every three months. A thousand dollars a year for one car and 25000 dollars liability.

    That was almost 35 years ago. Too many tickets for speed. Some of which would have ended my career today considering the current insurance with trucking company risks. I never believe in the word Career.

    There is one fallback. Hire onto a tiny dump truck type farm or paving out fit. Its class B work but you will earn pretty good money in season and collect full unemployment over winter about 5 months of the year. Eventually whatever the problems you had that prevents you from going OTR goes away in time and you have a trucking employment record to boot.
