BernieOH, Perspective is everything. From the above quote i didn't initially see it sounds as if you romanticized your idea of being a truck driver much like those hippies trying to live in campers try. It certainly isn't for everyone.
I detest your comment RJM1953, i have already met so many OTR drivers who are extremely intelligent and obviously possess the critical thinking skills that much of the world lacks. I myself maintained a 3.8 GPA in a public university and am loving the window office and individual climate control. I love not having to deal with morons on a minute by minute basis and the time for quiet reflection.
I know one thing though. As soon as Kwik Trip from LaCrosse, WI expands their footprint most Flying J's, TA's and Loves are done! Holy CRAP (literally) truckers shouldn't have to put up with that crap for paying that premium.
Will anyone employ me? Reckless in 2017 nothing since.

I'm sorry you're bored/unhappy RJM1953. You should try manufacturing or food distribution/production. It's so thought provoking and fulfilling! Heck, you'll be home every night to play pokeman, never have to eat at a truck stop or defecate into one their overflowing commodes.
Smart? Just playing Devil's advocate with your blanket statement about truckers . Very naive'. -
How do you get "offended" or "impressions" through static text as an intelligent person? I'm positive that defies Berlo's Model of Communication.
On my nerve? Not even close. Sorry, try harder?RJM1953 Thanks this. -
Reading and comprehension is so important even more so today with the rise of the American language and sms shorthand which closely resembles and butchers English.RJM1953 Thanks this. -

Good prices, clean, very friendly... and they have potatoes at the best price in any town. Big ones that are good for baking.
Don't know about the showers because I don't have the card and don't fuel there. -
Table 1 offenses found in 383.51 can take a long time to get past. In fact, some carriers simply won't hire you until many years have passed by. Reckless is a Table 2 offense. These things can have a tendency to get "sticky" and like Table 1 offenses, you need some safe ticket-free time to go by. If it is just one Table 2 offense you should be OK going forward, but beware another one within 3 years and you get a 60-day vacation once the ticket gets back to your home state and it lands on the CDLIS. Good luck with this OP.
wis bang Thanks this. -
If you are in Cincy, I am as well, check out DOT Foods in Batesville, IN. I have picked up there a few times. Nice facility and people.
Also, there are several food delivery companies, like Reinhart and Cysco. Ots hard work cause you have to unload the trucks by hand with dollies, but the money is excellent.
If you need your cdl check out Napier Truckdriving Academy in Hamilton/Fairfield. Fantastic program and they help you find a job. They bring in all kinds of recruiters from various companies that are hiring to talk to you while your in training.
Good luckLast edited: Nov 1, 2022
