They told me trucking companies won't hire me if I have an open worker's comp case. I do, I haven't been treated in a while though. I don't want to close it unless I absolutely have to in case I need treatment again. Does anyone know about this?
Will companies hire with an open workers comp case?

I was also wondering if you can smoke while driving. I hope this isn't a stupid question...
-
Not sure about the comp question, but somebody here has probably experienced something similar and will be able to give you some advice.
The smoking will be up to the individual company. Many of those that don't allow it are because of health insurance purposes. -
You can smoke if you want to. Never heard of any anti smoking companies.
As far as your workers comp I have no clue. Too many variables. -
No one will hire you with an open workers comp case as that would be rather stupid... you have to be medically cleared to drive.. if you are medically cleared to obtain a CDL, your workers comp case has just been proved to be unnecessary or fraudulent.

I finished treatment and actually thought it was closed almost a year ago. I was told they keep it open for up to 18 months. The school said to get my DOT exam and that would be fine. But if the case isn't closed, will that prevent me from getting hired once I finish school?

if you get a DOT cert that clears you for duty/driving i dont see an issue, can even get a doctor note to go with it.
Bleter Thanks this. -
Thanks. I have some lingering back pain but it doesn't stop me from doing anything, just uncomfortable.
