So far after reading so many postings I am really confused. Do I go to a CDL school? Company training what company? I see people say only 3 months training and there on the road. Will how many months training is needed? Both my Dad and Grandfather drove for LTC. They both have passed. And I don't really know any other life style. Now remember I'm a female. Any advice would be great.
Thanks so much Be safe.
Will how do I become a Driver?

Yes to get a CDL you need to go to a driving school (that is if you want to get a job after).
I would Recommend a community college if at all possible, they have the best training and are usually much cheaper then private driving schools. The courses are usually a few months long.
If thats not an option go to a private driving school, they are usually 160-180hrs so 4 weeks is average. They run $2500-$6000
I would save company training as a last resort, because they make you sign a contract to work for them for X amount of time in exchange they pay for your school. So if you decide trucking isn't for you, you don't like that company, or you get fired you will owe them ALLOT of money.
Most schools only give you what you need to get the CDL, your real training starts when you get your first job, they'll send you out on the road with a more experienced driver for 4-8 weeks.
Good Luck!

best of luck .-----southernpridebullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
Community college is the best way to go, just make sure that it's PTDI certified. I got my training through a c/c. 6 weeks of fun, hard work, & making new friends.
