Sure you will, You can't count that as anything besides just out right neglect. They should have given you more training! I remember my first trip out! i went out to Miami Globe Az. and got a load of highly valuable copper and took it to Kansas or Some place like that! I ran up to I-40 through Snake River Canyon and away I went!. Stayed my first night in a Indian reservation Truck Stop I walked in and thought I had left the United States! it was dark and cold in there but I survived!. Made my bed and stayed the night. The next night I was east of Amarillo, The rest is History!
Will I ever get another truck driving job?

You won't have any problem finding a new job. Stay away from the so-called mega starter companies. A large company is OK but not run of the mill starter companies. Maybe run teams for a few months until you're more comfortable.
Check some websites such as Careerbuilder, Indeed, trans-system, wksh and you will have a fresh new job in a few days.unloader Thanks this. -
I should further clarify that the three days wasn't typical for all of the trainees. We were supposed to leave as early as Sunday, no later than Tuesday, then be dropped off again by the following Sunday in time for class Monday morning. It just so happened that my trainer wasn't in town until Sunday evening. We spent all day Monday broke down at the terminal, then left Tuesday morning. I didn't drive at all the first day because the load they gave us couldn't have been delivered on time doing the speed limit. Plus we had to wake up at 12:30 A.M. to make a 3:30 A.M. appointment, and since I'm not used to that, I was nodding off the whole way.
We did a few drop and hooks at our destination up north then got a load headed right back down to L.A. so I was dropped off at the terminal Thursday night because I would have had to have been put on a bus going back the following day or so just to make it back in time for class on Monday. -

That's one screwed up rushed botched road training session if I ever heard one.
I'm assuming the "trainer" was asleep in the sleeper when you were driving and "nodding off"?
No matter what, never, never, never (did I say never?) drive to that point of tired.
Chalk all that up to bad/inadequate training. Proper training will make the job seem like night & day.
Your fears are understandable, at that point. If they continue after 6-8 weeks of good training, that might be a different story.
Search out a good starting company, be thorough in asking questions and really getting the inside scoop on them.
Don't rush into any 1 company until you've satisfied yourself that they are "the right one".
Several other posters here offered great leads, guidance, & advice. Add it all up together, and go from there.

JC, you're not screwed and you're probably right to withhold the name of the company. You need a safe place to park your CDL and get more experience. Don't accept a trainer with less than 5 years experience, if at all possible.
When I was starting out, I made friends with a broker at LATT, Los Angeles Truck Stop. It's gone now. Had my CDL. Wanted more experience. Met a lot of drivers and O/Os hanging around the broker's office. One night a driver offered that I could run with him up to Sacramento. My gut said, no, I just didn't figure he was that good a driver. He died that night. Ran into the back of a load of steel.
If you look around the forums, most guys who have been around a while are very careful NOT to say anything bad about their last employer and burn that bridge. Why? Retaliation. You either have to feel very strongly about it, or very confident in yourself, or both. Later on, when you've found the right spot and been there for a while, you can tell us all about this experience. And we'll be happy to have it. I've heard good things about Roehl just as DsquareD said. Even okay money starting out. Dunno.Last edited: Oct 30, 2013
