Curious about the bolded: can a company see your medical records? If there is something in your medical history that might scare them away from hiring you but doesn't show up in the DOT physical can a company find out about that?
Will I get hired if I have cirrhosis

Mom made it to around mid 60's but after she fell out of being a house wife in the late 60's and into the world of Restating etc drinking slowly kicked in. Nothing too crazy. However combined with the constant wastes from the other bacterial infection helped kill the liver essentially. Transplanted. She lasted 45 days. I wonder if it would have been better not to have done it at all but we did not have the benefit of knowing what was going on that high up in the body. However it is something I check now and then on purpose so there is that.
To the other, HIPPA generally protects medical information, however the Examiner I think has the authority to pull it where possible from the past to uncover suspected problems someone did not disclose.
When I go to get work done like the new joint, I specifically sign a form that allows Hippa to lock it up and do not let anyone get to it without my consent.faux_maestro Thanks this. -

How many people go into job interviews and tell their prospective employers about all the times they screwed up? Not very many. Just don't do it. You could make a TV show season about job interviews about how people screw up interviews. "You know it's just one of those things where I ended up drunk and high on tons of drugs, next thing you know you're in a vehicle crashing into stuff and everything is catching on fire. I don't really understand why people are so upset you know it's just one of those things that was going to happen anyway."Chinatown Thanks this. -
"IF" at anytime you need a special medication or surgery, it'll be known THEN that you had a pre-existing condition and you might be DENIED meds or medical treatment, as you lied on your DOT physical or the application. it's kinda hard to not have the liver not show up as bad in testing.
read number 12 here in the DOT physical form
Last Name: First Name: DOB: Exam Date: DRIVER HEALTH HISTORY (continued) Do you have or have you ever had: Yes No Not Sure 12. Stomach, liver, or digestive problems 13.
if you LIE on the DOT form and you need serious help, you maybe might get that help, but a HUGE bill to go along with it, cuz you lied on your DOT form, and to the company...thier insurance carrier very well may deny any claims........

I understand walmart sells the doses under counter that you can probably pay a small amount for daily but I don't know what that will add up to in a month.
I myself have gotten ahead of it, there is a sugar monitor on the shelf with the usual BP, Temp, pulse ox etc. Sometimes when I get cranky and off my food those vitals help me sort it fast. -
Thanks for the reply. One more question along the same line. Can or will the doctor doing your DOT physical check your previous medical history? I saw you mention someone keeping the fact that they were insulin dependent a secret, that isn't something that the Dr. doing your physical can or would be able to look into?
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Reminds me of something that happened recently. Took my wife to the doctor and while I was in the waiting room a man came there as a new patient from another state.
The receptionist ask him to sign a form so the doctor can get his health records from his previous out of state doctor. He told her "NO" the new doctor here needs to check me.
A little off topic @faux_maestro but I go to the same doctor as my wife. When she asked for my past medical records, I told her I can't get them because the hospital in China won't release them. That's not true, but she can't prove differently. She's Chinese, so probably figures that's correct. Anyway, I used the PLA Navy Hospital and PLA Air Force Hospital in China, As crazy as it sounds, they let me use those hospitals because I'm a US Navy veteran. Gave me big discounts on prices and treated me like a king. Everyone I talked to in those hospitals said they love the United States military; so don't believe everything you read in the news.Last edited: Jun 8, 2019

I don't believe everything I read in the news. China has remembered it's past and is working successfully to ensure their future.
I am not necessarily a enemy of China. They built our railroads and so on along with the Irish and so forth in our history.
I think at one time or another will probably see some action, but not enough to cause a all out war. We are not even thinking about that on the street here. It's not our concern. Now if they were stupid and sunk one or two of our Carriers... ya then sure... instantly. Just a example.Chinatown Thanks this.
