So im 42 this year and typically go to the gym 4-5 days a week.(basically im in decent shape) but I did have spinal fusion surgery done in thailand, 4 years ago. Is this something I am required to tell anyone? Will the companies PHYSICAL be checking for this? I applied to one place already and told them about it and after getting g a preliminary offer a few days later they said management with with a different recruit. To be honest it sounded more like a "company line" then anything...
Will my spinal fusion 4 years ago be a problem to get hired out of school?

What is a spinal fusion?
-
Basically they take 2 vertebrae and screw them together
-
Wow. Can you bend lift And shift? And stay b in one postipn for four to five hours?
-
I have my L3 and L4 fused . I do my job and I tell no one about my medical history on my Dot physical. I have no issues 90% of the time. I own my own truck and have a really nice seat. But as long as you can do the job and take precautions. I wouldn’t say a word about it
TruckerCarlson, feldsforever and LoboSolo Thank this. -
Look for a company with "driver no-touch" freight.

Some companies tend to shy away from drivers after back surgery especially a fusion. On the application if it is asked if there is any reason you can’t do the job or lift a certain amount just say no as long as that’s true. For your physical I suggest just saying you had back surgery and be non specific so don’t mention fusion. They generally won’t X-ray you so they won’t see the rods or allograft and you did not lie. Be as medically stupid as possible so just say something like “they just fixed a disk, you know however they do that.”Last edited: Sep 30, 2020
