according to the law 70 hrs max no matter what in DOT time but in a payroll stance yes you can work more than the 70 in a payroll week which in its fact can generate more miles more cash per payroll week, which is what these people are saying. 70 hrs in a dot week is different than a payroll week is or can be. this is the misunderstanding

I have run 6 weeks out without taking a 34 reset. There are ways to manage your time if you are with a good company.

the only way your not running out of your 60/70 is if your not driving/onduty the full time allowed 8.5 hrs i believe it is
8.5 hrs x 8 = 68 hrs or 8.5 x 7 =59.5
average actual speed 8.5 x 55 467.5 miles
if u drove 10 hrs a day you would average 550 miles or 605 miles for 11 hrs this is just average mind you there will be times that you can average higher than 55 mph which would increase milage per day
but less per week ? or would taking a restart get you more miles per week? since you can get a few more hours in each week with a restart. too tired to do the math on that right now lol
yea i know there are variables that are hard/impossible to figure in there ie loading unloading break downs
?? for the old dogs

Let's say I have a 3000 mile run that starts on Monday and ends on Saturday ... 3000 divided by 55 mph = 54 hrs ....then add fuel, inspections, load and unload time for that week and it'll bring u pretty darn close to the 70 ... I say around 65 ....then in this case a rest is called for ...but if u go and get a load and wait 4 or 5 hrs to get loaded and then 4 or 5 to get unloaded etc etc ... Then recap it is ... I think it all depends ...lilrich Thanks this. -
I always figured some in enforcement gained some ease of understanding with the reset. Didn't need to do a recap and understand how that works. I base this on encounters with those who looked for a reset to have a starting point, and were not ambitious enough to figure it out from the recap.
I told one of them you could technically run forever in this country without a reset, and it wasn't what he wanted to hear.
I guess he got told to bug out of poaching at the bottom of a short hill so he could give a speeding warning and check the logbook. I've spoken to others in enforcement who knew of this clown, they just shake their heads about him.
If your week is regular, you can work a reset to your advantage even with the new rule, if you have problems, you will probably be running a recap until you get back on schedule.
My friend on e-logs has been getting good miles but taking a reset to get time off, he can go through most of a 70 in a week, if things worked better, he could have 2 days a week off and work most of the 70 every week. 70 hours in 5 days with 2 days off and hit it again. He usually is able to get 34 off even starting late and ending late but the 168 hour rule is going to bite him bad.lilrich and airforcetoo Thank this. -
