Will there be far less drivers due to Coronavirus? Think of the many schooling/training challenges

This Covid-19 ain't gonna disappear anytime soon.
It has already impacted the DMV world but goes much deeper.

Many schools for kids having issues opening and functioning.

    What about truck driver schools?
In this time I would expect less people interested in going to truck driver school because of risk of being exposed, not only in classroom but sharing a testing truck touched by God knows how many people prior.

Then there's the aspect of later on being locked in a truck with a stranger trainer for weeks if not more once with a training company.

Many trainers have been calling it quits because they no longer want to deal with strangers coming in and out of there truck.
Have seen and heard it myself.

Then once working you have to worry about potentially being dispatched into a high outbreak and potentially quarantine zone risking yourself yet again. Also have heard from other drivers this BS is putting a strain on families due the risk of being exposed while traveling all over and bring it back home.

There's more I'm likely forgetting but overall it simply does not sound very appealing to become a truck driver now.
Personally I think there will be a lot less new drivers coming into the field which will lead to tightening up capacity.
DAT already showing data suggesting load/truck ratio moving big time, higher ratio than any point even of 2019.

There is no shortage of truck drivers now. There is no shortage of trucks.

Why drive when you can get $900 a week sitting home?

If the virus is so deadly we should all park our trucks and go home also. Let the grocery store run out of food and let see if everyone says still say how we all should stay home. They always claim the mask and everything is to protect the other person. Pay us to stay home let's see what happens. We can ride the free money and virus stuff to the end when the economy crashes. Then people will really see how bad thingt get.

    The economy has already crashed.
How long can the government print a trillion a month before people realize what happened?
America is no longer a capitalist nation.

There isn't a driver shortage problem, there is a driver retention problem...

There is probably a bigger chance of getting a STD off of a restroom doorknob than getting Covid-19 from touching something or being in the same truck with a trainer.

Depends on who you ask. Megas who have a lot of customers would say, yes there's a shortage. Small fleets and owner ops who are more reliant on the spot market will say there is no shortage.
