Don't say that, you might get some do-gooder on here scolding you for bringing up politics.

well, i looked at it as a handout, cuz when i go to walmart for some of my groceries, i always "walk the store". after i get the food items we need.

the tv section, was wiped out..the tv section was wiped out.

so, those big screen tv's, were more important than food? stocking up on canned, frozen foods are not as important that those huge tv's?

by the way, the tv section, was wiped out..ALL tv's......ALL sizes.....

i guess to so many people, food and toiletries are just not as important than ALL those tv's.

i say get rid of the handouts.

or next, the computer sections will be wiped out, or the coffee maker section....

    over food.

Food is replenished locally-ish. At least in the sense it can be driven anywhere from anywhere in the U.S. in a matter of hours and days. It takes 6 weeks for a container ship to cross the Pacific, plus all the current slow downs in customs.
Don't get me wrong, there was a fair bit of wasting money on luxuries, but China shutting down didn't help with the same luxuries being out of stock.

the 3 walmarts i can get to, the tv section always was over flowing with all sorts of tv's, so much so, many had to be stacked at the 2 front entrances near the cash registers.

so, someone trying to tell me that the sudden "wealth" of free money, had nuffi to do with all the tv's being sold out?

those large 50" and up tv's sat for a long time, i actually wiped dust of the tops of some of those boxes, why? my niece wanted a larger tv herself, but the cost, was prohibitive.

even a tv store near me......ALL tv's sold out.....

i find it so very hard to believe that all of a sudden, those tv's moved so fast, with out the help of that hand out. and let's also not forget, that extra $600 a week on top of the unemployment checks, added to the general merchandise to walk off the shelves.

$1200 free money, $600 weekly extra money...and some still cannot pay thier rents? evictions were put on hold in my state?

but they be watching those wide screen tv's.......huh..???

and there you go, you confirmed what i said, spending money on a foolish item(s) over food, rent, maybe even the mortgage.

take away the free hand outs, all across the country.

Not sure how people not buying them by me proves your point. People are not hived mind. Some will do the right thing. Some will do stupid shyte.

We used our 1200 for a small mini vacation locally. Now at first glance that might seem foolish. However, my better half has PTSD and her counselor/doctor told her she needed to get away from her complex for a bit. Why? Her mother had recently passed and persons at her complex were causing her high levels of stress. It was needed for her health and mental well being.

Oh yeah. I've seen the same thing. People didn't look at it like its assistance, or recycled money. They went and splurged. That's what our leaders wanted them to do anyway. Most people arent used to seeing that kind of money, albeit not a lot of money, and went crazy. I'm not so much mad about the idea of assistance, I think they probably should have given guidelines like the PPP loan, made it specifically about food, or rent, or whatever. They wanted to inject more money back into the government pockets so they went with this model because they know how most Americans are. I can't imagine that they will give tax refunds next year.

Makes no difference. Money is not a renewable resource. Not only that, it isn't like the president is the most powerful person in government, contrary to popular belief.
