Today I was pulled over by a state officer in Kentucky. I did not see the “no left turn sign” and made a left turn. He also said 2 of my logs was not certified!!!
he told me he was not giving me a citation, there are no citation numbers listed on the driver/vehicle examination report. It is listed as an level 3 inspection. He said I had to sign the inspection form, Carrier had to sign it and send it back within 15 days.
my carrier knows… they seen the report. They did not say anything about it going against me, no talk of any safety points or classes!!! Do I need to contact legal advice or??
I am still a new driver only a year and a half in. No other issues… no accidents, not been pulled over, no tickets, nothing!! Very clean record.
Will this affect my license?

Were those violations listed on the inspection? I’m assuming so since they’re requiring it signed and returned. No legal advice is going to get you out of a violation on an inspection like that. It will not go on your MVR if no citations or written warnings, but the infractions will go on your PSP. Those violations alone probably won’t be an issue for you in your career, but yes, your employer and potential future employers will take note of those things as your PSP points also affect the company.
I had two moving violations listed on an inspection and was also cited. Fought the citations in court and got them dropped.. sadly, my PSP still shows the violations with a little note that says the state verdict was amended. So, it really didn’t do any good except keep my MVR clean -
Thank you so much Thrasher28!! I really hope it doesn’t affect me in the future with switching companies. The violations was listed on the inspection report

@brian991219 might have more to add, but I can't express hard enough how critical it is to run 100% legal! Keep the permits and logging current and legit!lillady2021, brian991219 and 4wayflashers Thank this. -
It seems you handled yourself well to get a break on a log violation.
Another thing many drivers overlook with elogs is not entering BOL # on every trip.
One place I pick up at frequently we dont know the BOL # until we are at the guard shack on the way out. It’s rare I see a driver take the 30 seconds after being handed his bills to enter the 20 digit number. It’s always the same routine. I see bills get handed to driver and off they go, 2 turns and they’re on the interstate with an incomplete log book. Plenty long driveway to stop and fill in the information to be legal. Probably not an hangable offense but it’s so common I thought I’d mention it.lillady2021 Thanks this. -
What do they mean by being a”Certified” log ? Never heard of this. Isn’t ELD electronically in the system ? I run just a paper log “time sheet”, put down the time I start and stop and total hours for the day. I’m local so I’m luckily exempt. One of the carriers I haul for have all ELD’s on there trucks, but I’ve never heard them discuss about being “Certified”.
